Geocoding and Mapping Progress Report
This month we were able to geocode another 841 listings, bringing us up to about 24% of the total. We've completed geocoding the listings in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the Channel Islands and have fewer than 86 listings remaining to do in England, before we move on to the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

What Else is New?
We get a lot of satisfaction out of expanding the database, finding more pools to add in order to give you more choices in places to swim. But pools come and go and sometimes we have to delete listings - as when a pool is permanently closed or changes to a seasonal operation. So, while we're working on mapping the listings, we're also checking Web links to their official Web sites, checking telephone numbers, and culling listings that shouldn't be there anymore. Last month, we deleted 51 listings; since the site went online, we've deleted more that 1,300 listings - that's 200 more listings than we had in the first edition of our book...
It's been a long time since we added so many pools in one month or deleted so many, and we geocoded nearly twice as many listings last month than we had done in any of months before. How did that happen? The answer is simple - I retired. I now have a lot more time to devote to the site and I have a lot of ideas how to improve it. We're working on a major overhaul of the database behind the site that you can't see and also of the part of the site that you can see. I am looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. The forecast is for a late March, early April relaunch.
LinkedIn
Some time ago someone sent me an invitation to connect via LinkedIn. I started to do a registration, but aborted it when the LinkedIn sign-up forms asked for things that I didn't feel comfortable providing. I guess I had done enough to get me enrolled and, since then, have been receiving regular invitations to make connections with people I've never heard of, as well as a few with whom I've had running correspondence for years. I am not replying and apologize if my failure to respond is being taken as a rejection. Please understand that I'm not rejecting anyone personally - I'm rejecting LinkedIn.
